Geophysical tools have been used for years to locate unknown buried tanks, drums, and other objects, or properly delineate the depth and size of objects at known locations. A combination of at least two geophysical methods typically provides the most accurate interpretation of the location of such materials. Underground storage tanks (USTs) at abandoned gas station properties or similar sites can pose serious environmental concerns, and must be identified when developers are planning on performing new construction or road-widening.
- UST management (identification and removal)
- Environmental applications (locate tanks, drums posing environmental concerns)
- Pre-development site characterization
- Assist in obtaining “No Further Action” permits from regulatory agencies
