Pyramid offers a full range of private utility locating services to delineate and identify depths of buried pipes, conduit, rebar, and other suburface utilities. Our equipment includes ground penetrating radar (GPR) with a range of antenna frequencies to be used depending on the depth and type of structure to be located. Additionally, we incorporate hand-held electromagnetic (EM) utility locators that can be used to direct-connect or induce a current to utilities and track their position. The benefit of using Pyramid over other utility locating companies is the access to all of our geophysical resources and instrumentation. We provide our clients not only with standard utility locating capabilities, but also the training and expertise of experienced geophysicists.
Specific instrumentation includes:
- GSSI SIR4000 Control Unit with multiple antennae frequencies (200 MHz, 350 MHz, 1500 MHz) – an advanced GPR system capable of a variety of surveys from concrete inspection to utility locating, UST investigations, and geologic mapping (up to 20 feet below ground surface)
- GSSI UtilityScan DF multi-frequency (300/800 MHz) GPR unit – Ideal for locating utilities and structure such as underground storage tanks (USTs)/drums from approximately 1-8 feet below ground surface
- GSSI StructureScan Mini high frequency (1600 MHz) unit – ideal for concrete inspections to map rebar, post tension cables, concrete thickness, and voids
- SubSite Utiliguard and DitchWitch R-Series EM Locators – can be used to direct connect to utilities or induce a current through a ring clamp or ground induction to map metallic conduit
